Project Title: New Edinburgh Royal Infirmary

Hulley & Kirkwood were Designers for the new Edinburgh Royal Infirmary Joint Venture Project (Balfour Beatty, Haden Young, and Morrison Construction) which is located at a greenfield site at Little France on the outskirts of Edinburgh. The Project comprises of a New Hospital Block (approx. 12,000m²) with 27 Operating Theatres, five of which are ultra clean, 897 beds, Maternity Unit, HSDU and Hospital Laboratory Block. The Project also includes the University of Edinburgh Medical School comprising approximately 11,000m² of combined Laboratory and Academic Accommodation. The first phase of the Project was completed in October 2001 with final handover of phase two in December 2002.
