Project Title: LIFT Schemes (Leicestershire, Sandwell, Greater Notts, S Derby)
Client: Various
LIFT is a project which will transform the quality of healthcare at locations based in the community.
In July 2000 central government published the NHS Plan, a ten-year plan for modernising and reforming the NHS. The plan identified an urgent need to improve primary care premises. The Government provided the NHS with a model for improving and developing primary and community care facilities that are collectively known as a NHS Local Improvement Finance Trust - or "LIFT" for short. Work on Britain’s biggest-ever project to improve frontline health and social care facilities and services is already underway and over the last few years Hulley & Kirkwood have been involved in numerous LIFT projects, all over central England.
To help assist Hulley & Kirkwood’s Mechanical and Electrical submissions, HulleySIM have been involved in all of these projects providing design support along the way. This work has involved looking at various buildings and specific areas within each, but typically waiting room, consulting rooms, offices, IT / computing areas and other areas with large amount of glazing, i.e. atriums, etc.
The work has investigated peak temperatures within these areas and examined how best to regulate summer high temperatures - with consideration to glazing types and window opening areas.
