Scottish Enterprise HQ, Glasgow

Commercial Experience

Project Title: Scottish Enterprise HQ, Glasgow

Client: Scottish Enterprise

Project Value: £20m

Hulley contact: Bill Kilpatrick

The new Headquarters for Scottish Enterprise brings together various departments which had been previously diversely located elsewhere in Glasgow. This development won the BCO Awards for “National Corporate Workplace” and “Scottish Corporate Workplace” in 2002. The 15,000m² building consists of eight levels plus basement car parking over a further two levels and opens itself up to view as soon as one steps in from the street with the office floors open to a central atrium, in the base of which are a restaurant and coffee bar.

Further life is given to the atrium by the panoramic lifts and a full-height open staircase which encourages communication between floors. The building is almost entirely open plan and houses lecture theatres, kitchens, restaurants and computer rooms together with a double height Boardroom overlooking the Clyde in addition to the general office accommodations. The building was completed on time and within budget.
