Chunghwa Picture Tubes is one of the world’s largest suppliers of cathode ray tubes for computer screens and televisions, producing around 20 million CRTs every year. Its Parent company, the Tatung Group, is Taiwan’s biggest Electronic and Electric Machinery Producer. The Mossend Plant, near Glasgow - once fully operational - is expected to provide half of the Company’s CRT output, some ten million.
The development is the biggest single investment by a Taiwanese company in Europe and is expected to create some 4,000 new jobs. This is a project which originated from Locate in Scotland and from the Lanarkshire Development Agency and has now translated to become a Major Project with a value of £57m for Phase One incorporating £25m of M&E including HEVAC, Electrical and Process Engineering Services including 70% floor area of Class 10000 and 1000 Clean Rooms.
