As part of their Shopping Centre portfolio, The Grange was receiving negative security issues for Legal & General Ltd due to the failure at an alarming rate of their exterior lighting installation, which had only been in operation for some six years. Having spent a considerable amount of their budget on these improvements and continuous repetitive maintenance, the centre was not in a position to make a repeat performance on the replacement of the installation.
Hulley & Kirkwood Ltd were provided with a clear brief from the Client to design a replacement installation that will provide lasting service, be within cost restraints, and with reduced energy consumption, all of which were met.
Following an extensive survey it was discovered that a large proportion of the existing cabling could be retained which helped with the cost issues. Several manufacturers were approached and after close consideration of all possible luminaires with the Client, the Louis Poulsen SEL 44 was selected for its quality, availability of lamp and control gear technology and visual resemblance of the existing items.
