Ongoing developments at Heathrow Airport following the T5 project dictated that the Star Alliance members required new Arrivals and Departures lounges for their 1st and Business Class customers.
Hulley and Kirkwood provided the building services design support for the creation of a new Arrivals facility above an existing retail unit and the conversion of an ex British Airways Lounge to provide the 1650 square metre Departures facility for all First and Business Class passengers as well as for Star Alliance Gold Card holders travelling with any of the member carriers from Terminal 1.
Both projects were implemented in live environment conditions and required significant liaison and coordination with the BAA and their shell and core team to negotiate and agree services interfaces, coordination and delivery.
