Project Title: Falkirk Schools PFI
Client: Ballast Special Projects Division
Project Value: £70m
Hulley contact: Jim Costello
This PFI project when built was the largest new build Education PFI in the UK. The scheme involved the construction of five new schools on four sites, consisting of Graeme High, Woodland/Braes, Bo’ness Academy, with the new site at Larbert High also accommodating the Dawson Park Special Needs School.
As these schools are to be run for 25 years after their construction by the Project Company Consortium, great care and attention had to be paid in conjunction with the Facilities Management Team to the selection of proper maintainable M&E solutions related to plant and equipment. An interesting feature to these schools was the incorporation of vented stacks into the design of the classroom blocks.
