Project Title: Aberdeen University Applied Health Sciences Building
Project Value: £5.5m
Hulley contact: Bruce Campbell
Built on an extremely tight site, this new Clinical facility incorporated cellular and open plan offices on the 3 upper floors. Services included the design of mechanical and electrical services together with site supervision and cost control.
The building benefited from energy efficient lighting which incorporated daylight linking on a floor by floor elevation by elevation basis together with full comfort cooling. We were also carried out a Value Engineering exercise which saw the reduction of floor boxes to allow pairs of desks to share a common box in lieu of one floor box per person. Traffic control measures were also introduced and a vehicle barrier was integrated to the University wide access system and to the reception. In addition the barrier was also integrated to the fire alarm system which automatically opened the barrier on activation of the fire alarm.
