The project involved the complete remodelling of the third floor of the existing acute wing. The existing wing comprised of four levels, three of which were accommodation and the top being theatres. The Trust wished to provide a 15 bed Private Patients Wing on the third floor (below the theatre suite), whilst maintaining normal operations on all other floors.
Hulley & Kirkwood were required to carry out detailed surveys of the existing systems as no record documents were available. The project was completed on time, within budget and with minimal interruptions to other areas.
As the Private Patients Wing was nearing completion, Hulley & Kirkwood were appointed to upgrade the existing theatre suite air conditioning plant. This was also completed on time and better use of space within the plant room allowed us to install the new theatre plant while the original plant was operating. This ensured minimal changeover time and down time.
