Blackburn Hospital

District Hospitals

Project Title: Blackburn Hospital

Project Value: £80m

Hulley contact: Donald Wood

The proposal for this Project was to consolidate services split between two hospitals into one site at the Queens Park Hospital. The Blackburn Royal Infirmary buildings were older and congested on an island site, which was not suitable for the provision of modern healthcare.

This project created 45,000m² of new space incorporating facilities to cater for 299 In-patient beds, 12 In-patient and Day-care Theatres.  Also provided was an Accident and Emergency Department to cater for over 70,000 attendances and an expanded Outpatient Department.
