The Level Centre in Derbyshire is a world first in the use of new arts technology with learning disabled people. The centre creates a virtual space in which people from all over the region can collaborate on the same project. The project houses new digital arts technology and provides a secure long-term base for the client, First Movement Trust.
The building utilises cutting edge technology in order to accommodate virtual arts collaboration using video conferencing, large scale projection and many other new technologies.
The building’s unique shape has been built around the surrounding landscape’s content. The building utilises numerous renewable technologies including thermally massive floors and walls, natural lighting and ventilation to reduce electricity and heat consumption, as well as utilising grey water recycling and water efficient equipment.
