Project Title: National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham

Client: NEC

Project Value: £54m

Hulley contact: Andy Bradley

The National Exhibition Centre Hall 10 Project and the Hall 19 Project required the provision of flexible, high capacity, high resilience engineering infrastructure services to support the NEC’s wide range of Exhibition and Conference requirements such as Motor Shows, Product Launches, Engineering and Process Industry (with working exhibits), Major Sporting, Entertainment and Media Events.

The range of Engineering Services provided includes:-

  • Environmental Control (heating, cooling, ventilation)
  • Variable Lighting (normal, display, media)
  • Underfloor Services (power, telecom, water, drainage, gas, compressed air, cooling, special services, dirty extract)
  • Overhead Services (extract/fume ventilation, power, special services, security and surveillance)
A key feature of the NEC Projects is the clear floor space created by the underfloor servicing strategy which, combined with overhead servicing which was carefully integrated into overhead walkways as part of the high bay roof structure, gives excellent flexibility of the Exhibition/ Production/Display Spaces at an affordable cost.
