Project Title: Sherbrooke Church

Client: Sherbrooke Church

Project Value: £0.1m

Hulley contact: Simmy Telfer

The original Sherbrooke Church which was designed by the architect W.F. McGibbon in 13th century continental Gothic style was destroyed by fire on 28 July 1994 and was restored and refurbished by 1998.

A new high efficiency gas fired boilerplant was installed, with zone controls and separate occupancy time programmes for  heating of the church and the various halls and spaces attached to it.

The main church congregation area was heated by an underfloor embedded pipe coil heating system, providing fabric protection heating and warmth throughout the space.   Fan assisted heaters were used to cover heat losses at entrances and to raise the space temperature quickly before services.

The underfloor heating system provided a very discreet installation with no visual intrusions on the architectural merit of the church interior.
