The proposal for this PPP project was to consolidate services, which are currently split between two hospitals, into one site at the Queens Park Hospital. The Royal Infirmary buildings are older and congested on an island site, which were not suitable for the provision of modern healthcare.
The project created 45,000m² of new space incorporating facilities to cater for 299 In-patient beds, 12 in-patient and day-care theatres. An Accident and Emergency Department to cater for over 70,000 attendances and an expanded Outpatient Department were also provided.
