Riverside Business Park seeks BREEAM Award

Hulley & Kirkwood are pleased to announce the recent completion and handover of this new 2,281m² Grade A office development in Greenock, on which we were acting M&E Services Design Consultants.

The original Appointment of the Design Team (CRGP Architects, Arups and Hulley & Kirkwood) by Riverside Inverclyde was made in January 2012, primarily to prepare and ‘fast-track’ a Stage C scheme design that would constitute the basis for a D&B Tender, subsequently issued in February 2012. CBC were the successful Main Contractor and work commenced on site in June 2012 with formal completion/hand-over to the Client at the beginning of May 2013. The full Design Team was novated to CBC to complete the design and support the Main Contractor throughout the design and construction phases.

The building and its' services were initially designed on a speculative basis, suitable for ready sub-division into 8 separate office units, each sharing a common landlord core. However, during the Construction Phase, the Client was able to secure a single, prestigious tenant for the whole development. As a consequence the Design Team were required to extensively engage with the tenant's fit-out Design Team, and quickly customise or enhance the design to suit their particular requirements, all with the minimum possible disruption or effect to the Construction programme.

Hulley & Kirkwood were responsible for the full M&E design including public health, natural gas, space heating, mechanical cooling, mechanical ventilation, automatic controls, lifts, fire alarms, small power, general lighting, emergency lighting, external lighting etc.

The project is subject to a formal BREEAM assessment, the level of award for which is pending.
