Outstanding Knowledge Management

Hulley and Kirkwood & University of Strathclyde were awarded highest grade of “Outstanding” by the Knowledge Management Partnership Panel. In partnership with the Design Manufacturing and Engineering Department at the University of Strathclyde Glasgow, Hulley & Kirkwood embarked on a project to develop our Knowledge Management approach.

Our Knowledge Management strategy was to apply leading edge research in Information and Knowledge Management strategies, processes and tools to improve the design process and strengthen the competitiveness, wealth creation and economic performance by the enhancement of knowledge and skills, and the stimulation of innovation through collaborative projects between our business and the knowledge base.

What were our objectives?

  • To facilitate the transfer of knowledge and spread technical and business skills, through innovative projects undertaken by high calibre, recently qualified people under the joint supervision of personnel from business and the knowledge base.
  • Provide company-based training for personnel in order to enhance their business and specialist skills.
  • Stimulate and enhance business relevant education and research undertaken by the knowledge base.
  • Increase the extent of interactions with the knowledge base and their awareness about the contribution the knowledge base can make to business development and growth.
