Glasgow Airport East Pier Opened

Glasgow Airport’s newly extended East Pier was officially opened on 31st August 2015 by the Minister for Transport and the Islands, Derek Mackay MSP.

H&K were appointed by Glasgow Airport to join a team of professionals engaged to develop the £3.3m pier extension from concept to construction.  We were responsible for the specification and design of the full suite of internal mechanical and electrical systems (small power, HVAC, lighting, lift, public health etc.) and fully supported the airport specific systems of FiDS, access control, communications, PA and CCTV.  Our duties also required us to support airfield flood lighting and the safe-dock stand guidance systems externally. The project realised a further extension to main terminal LTHW primary mains heating system, designed by Hulley and Kirkwood under a separate and previous appointment with the Airport.

The project involved the construction of a 2 -storey, 1,400 square metre extension to its East Pier to serve six stands and associated gate areas for departing passengers.
