Radisson Blu Hotel

The Premier Hotel in the area with its own unique identity.

The £15m Radisson Blu Hotel, East Midlands Airport, is 800 metres away from the main terminal along the M1.  This energy efficient hotel was built by MAG Developments in partnership with the Azure Property Group. The 5-storey, 216 bed hotel offers eight executive suites, a full service restaurant and bar, extensive events and conferencing facilities, high-speed internet access for all guests and meeting delegates; plus full health and leisure facilities including a swimming pool, sauna and steam rooms.

East Midlands Airport is committed to be carbon neutral, therefore the hotel is utilising a range of low energy technologies to reduce the energy demand of the building.

H&K have developed as part of the building services design, a tri-generation Energy Centre utilising a bio-fuelled combined heat and power (CHP) engine and absorption chiller. This innovative system is used to heat and cool the whole hotel; and delivers a substantial reduction in CO2 and supplies up to 90% of the consumed energy from a renewable source. The system also exports electricity to the national grid outside of normal occupancy hours.

The build incorporates a number of sustainable construction techniques to deliver a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ facility including enhanced isolative building elements and a sustainable surface water drainage system that utilises techniques, such as porous paving in the car park, and external landscape areas, together with attenuation tanks.
