New student accommodation.
Working as part of the Miller Construction team, Hulley & Kirkwood assisted the bid process providing valuable information upon ventilation design, modular construction and building regulation compliance to ensure a cost effective design was proposed. This approach was successful, and ensured the University was presented with a low energy, easy to maintain accommodation solution.
The £22m project consists of 8 blocks of terrace three storey town houses, with a communal kitchen and individual en-suites. A new energy centre serves all the buildings via a district heating scheme using a combined gas biomass system.
In addition to the new build elements three listed buildings were refurbished and connected to the district heating scheme.
