The Mall Luton

Bedfordshire's Premier Shopping Centre.

Originally opened in 1972 and named Arndale Shopping Centre, this shopping facility for the Luton area comprises of 128 retail units occupying more than 75,556 sq.ft and has on-site parking for 2,300 cars. The centre is a home for many of the leading retail names. The largest of the new units, approx. 4000m², was occupied by TK Maxx.  A further six units within the remaining ground floor were Let, some of which are designated food outlets/restaurants/cafes.

Expansion to the shopping centre entailed alteration and demolition of existing building and construction of new retail units together with a brand new atrium, providing access onto the recently refurbished St Georges Square.

H&K undertook the full detailed services design including initial site surveys to establish the extent and impact of the works on existing services and subsequently completed the full M&E and public health design for the extension works. The £14m project also involved an enabling works project to undertake the diversion of both private and utility owned primary services infrastructure that run across the site of the extension.
