Girls Career Workshop

Hulley & Kirkwood recently supported a construction industry careers workshop at six Plymouth schools with Eleni Kalyva from our Plymouth office presenting at the workshop to inspire girls to consider M&E engineering as a career.

The event was organised by Millfields Inspired, a charity formed by the Millfields Trust to encourage young people to make informed choices about their futures, in collaboration with South West Women in Construction (SWWIC).

Other SWWIC members who gave presentations included Niki Read, project architect at AWW; Sarah Lee, architect at Stride Treglown and Rachel Price, senior project manager at Mace.

A group of 42 girls, aged 9 and 10, from schools in Stonehouse were invited to visit the site of the Millfields Trust's £5m development in Union Street.  The girls were able to see the jobs involved in building a development of this scale.

Schools taking part included High Street Primary, St George's CofE Primary Academy, Pilgrim Primary, St Peter's CofE Primary, The Cathedral School of St Mary, and St Andrew's CofE Primary.
