Clyde Wind Farm Operations Centre

The Clyde Wind Farm is a 548 megawatt wind farm near Abington in South Lanarkshire. The wind farm is one of Europe's largest onshore wind farm with 152 wind turbines and a construction value of £600M.

Hulley & Kirkwood have been responsible for the mechanical design of the two large substation buildings and a 1900m² operations centre which will cater for the growing number of SSE operations in Southern Scotland, England and Wales in addition to the Clyde Wind Farm.

The electricity for the wind farm buildings is renewably sourced from the neighbouring turbines.  In addition to this, the operations centre will utilise ground source heat pumps to heat and cool the office accommodation which has led to an ‘A’ EPC rating being achieved.
